Famed actor, filmmaker, and director Jon Favreau stopped by to check out Second City’s hit Mainstage show, Fool Me Twice, Deja Vu in Chicago Tuesday night.
“Fool Me Twice, Deja Vu” has been getting rave reviews for its outstanding blending of sketch and improv and its clever twists on contemporary and future nostalgia. If that sounds weird, it is but only in the best way. The show is brilliantly written and performed, and we had the pleasure of attending the show earlier this year. Written and performed by Second City’s Chelsea Devantez, Paul Jurewicz, Rashawn Nadine Scott, Sarah Shook, Daniel Strauss and Jamison Webb, and directed by Ryan Bernier, the show’s smart and hilarious take on issues of race, politics, parenting and social media are all cleverly revisited in the second act, from a different angle.
Favreau not only watched the show, he also performed in the third act- an all improv performance, with the cast.
Favreau of course is an alumnus of the Second City Training Center and got his career start in Chicago. He went on to fame as a writer, director, producer and actor. He wrote and starred in the indie classic Swingers, and directed Iron Man 1 and 2, Elf, Chef, and the upcoming live action reimagining of The Jungle Book.
If you’re in Chicago, don’t miss a chance to see Fool Me Twice, Deja Vu. It runs six nights a week and is frequently sold out. Go to secondcity.com for more information and tickets.
