Scott Rogowsky Pays Tribute To The Death Of HQ’s Co-Founder

Scott Rogowsky said some kind words about the death of HQ Trivia’s co-founder on Sunday night.

When HQ went live on Sunday, Rogowsky announced that he had tragic news to share, and that he did so with a heavy heart. “Our friend and founder Colin Kroll passed away unexpectedly early this morning at the age of 34. Colin, or CK as we called, him was a true visionary who changed the game twice- first with vine and then with this very app.” He described Kroll as a good friend and colleague who was both compassionate and generous, and a loving son and brother, and relayed that everyone at HQ was shocked and deeply saddened by Kroll’s death.

“Out of respect there will be no show tonight,” Rogowsky said, “but we will resume regular rescheduled programing with HQ trivia tomorrow night.”

Kroll was also an animal lover, who loved his dog Tater, and so Scott said they’d be donating Sunday night’s cash prize to the Humane Society. He closed simply saying, “Thank you CK, goodnight everybody.”

Kroll was found dead in the bedroom of his Soho apartment by police who were responding to a wellness check initiated by Krolls’ girlfriend. He was found facedown on his bed and pronounced dead on the scene. No official cause of death has been given but early reports were suggesting that a drug overdose was responsible. Cocaine and heroin were found in his apartment. His father told the New York Times that his son had quit drinking, and did not have a drug problem, but indicated that his work and living in NYC were negatively affecting him.

Kroll was the co-founder of Vine, and co-founded HQ Trivia last year.
