Scientists Have Discovered Why We Itch

itchNeurons produce a a chemical called Nppb that creates an itchy sensation on the body. Scientists were able to genetically alter mice so that they didn’t produce Nppb and therefor were impervious to itch inducing chemicals. This is good news for humans in the future when itchiness will become a thing of the past.
