Russell Brand Has Gone Anti-Porn

Russell Brand has spoken out against corporations, governments ruining the environment and the pharmaceutical industry. Now he’s got a new cause, online porn. In a recent episode of his web series, The Trews found on the Daily Beast, Russell goes through all the negative effects that studies show can result from young people watching too much online porn. As he lists them, he talks about how he’s been effected the same ways and the guilty feeling that gives him.

He’s not saying eliminate online porn all together, but he does refer to it as “filth” in his video. He also says that people know it’s wrong to engage in because a person (including himself) doesn’t feel like they’ve accomplished anything positive by looking at it. He says, “There’s a general feeling, isn’t there? In your core, if you look at pornography, this isn’t what’s the best thing for me to do, this isn’t the best use of my time now.”

Plus, Russell Brand talks about the damage online porn has done to him and what it does to young people, including how he has had trouble relating to women and how his spirituality has been compromised. He adds that he was obsessed with porn as a teenager and kids today must find the amount of porn they have access to, both “dizzying and corrupting”.

The producers of porn should beware. If you’re losing Russell Brand, the whole industry could be in trouble.
