Rich Vos and Bonnie McFarlane Represent New Jersey on Bourdain’s Travel Show

Last night Anthony Bourdain returned to his home state of New Jersey to explore a few familiar places in the Garden State. It was a very nostalgic episode as Bourdain focused on some downtrodden parts of the state. He checked out some of his favorite parts of the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City and Camden, showing off the beauty of some older places with charm, character, and great food, even if the neighborhoods they are in aren’t ‘booming’ or ‘trendy’.
But what really made last night’s episode worth watching was a surprise appearance by Rich Vos and Bonnie McFarlane. The clip posted on CNN.com refers to them as “two Atlantic City comedians” but Bourdain calls them “two of the hardest working people around” after making his own attempt at a little joke– “There’s nothing funny, about losing your money.” Tony, Rich and Bonnie sat down at an old school Italian joint, and talked about New Jersey pride, working in Atlantic City, and why they love living in the Garden State.
“There was a club at the Sands,” Vos said, “many times I would get paid on Thursday and then I would lose it all, and then I’d have to work for free. There’s no worse feeling. It’s a nightmare.”
Bonnie said she loves Jersey audiences. “They never get offended.”
Ultimately everyone agreed– hipness is overrated, Trump is a creep, and you can’t get a bad meal at Tony’s Baltimore Grill.
