Reopen the Case: Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs is known as one of the most innovative and influential minds in the history of business. He is responsible for revolutionizing multiple markets, including the computer, cell phone, tablet, and animation movie industries. His vision and understanding of consumer demand has caused many to refer to him as the “Father of the Digital Revolution”. He was awarded a Presidential Medal of Recognition, Forbes once named him as the most powerful person in business, Inc named him Entrepreneur of the Decade in 1989, and Fortune called him the greatest entrepreneur of our time. Even Disney named him a legend after his death.
But was Steve Job, the man, equivalent to his legacy? Does he deserve the status that our society has accorded him?
Some people believe that Jobs was not what the super-genius that he is portrayed to be. They believe he was an overrated leader and a selfish individual whose sole focus was getting his way at all costs. His destractors argue that Jobs often crossed the line regarding the treatment of his employees even bullying them at times.
Which is it? Is Steve Jobs the greatest leader in the history of business? Or has history gotten it wrong.
Let’s reopen the case.
