Ray Romano Previews Big Letterman Tribute


Ray Romano who says he owes his career to David Letterman gave a sneak peek at the upcoming CBS tribute special to the retiring late night host. “David Letterman: A Life On Television” airs Monday, May 4th at 9:30pm et.
In this preview for the 90 minute career retrospective, Ray Romano says “if you have children, you should wake them up” because “you’re going to see everything”. By everything, he means over 30 years of highlights from both “Late Night” and “The Late Show” with classic guests, musical acts and bits including Stupid Human Tricks and celebrity Top 10 lists as well as the more emotional moments like Dave returning from quintuple bypass surgery and coming back on the air after the 9-11 attacks. And Drew Barrymore’s unforgettable desk dance will be part of the tribute.
Ray Romano has a special connection to Dave. The deal from David Letterman’s production company Worldwide Pants for the hit sitcom, “Everybody Loves Raymond” came a week after Ray’s 1995 appearance on the Late Show.
According to Variety, CBS has also announced that on Dave’s show Monday following the special and your local news, President Obama will make his 8th and final appearance on the Late Show. Both are headed towards retirement, but Dave is beating Obama out the door by a little under two years.
