A new bill is being voted on to raise the age limit to buy cigarettes from 18 to 21 in New York City. The council sites that 80% of smokers start before they’re 18. Retailers will be fined $1,000 for selling to underage kids if this thing passes. What 18 year old could afford a pack of cigarettes in NYC anyway?
