New York Graffiti Landmark To Be Destroyed
The 5 Pointz Aerosol Art Center is in danger of being torn down and turned into two high rise condos in Long Island City, New York. The Interrobang featured the graffiti haven late last year.
It’s a 200,000 square foot factory space where it’s legal to use spray paint on the walls. A David Wolkoff, who’s family owns 5 Pointz, announced that they have plans to demolish the building by September 2013. There’s still an approval process that has to be undergone, but things look grim for 5 Pointz. Thankfully, some real affordable housing should go up in its place at $2 grand a studio.
