This Saturday as part of the New York Comedy Festival, SiriusXM’s Ron Bennington has gathered some of comedy’s strongest voices to talk about the issue on everyone’s mind in comedy. Can comedy survive the new sensitivity? What’s too offensive? And is it okay to offend? Panelists announced so far include Big Jay Oakerson, Ari Shaffir, Liza Treyger, and Yamaneika Saunders, and will take place at SiriusXM headquarters, Oakerson, Treyger and Saunders just released their first Netflix half hour specials as part of the Degenerates series, so they’re no strangers to the topic, and Shaffir, Oakerson and Saunders have been part of the infamous Nasty Show at Just for Laughs in Montreal. So its a perfect panel to get into the conversation.
The hour will air on SiriusXM radio after the festival, but you can hear it live by being in the studio audience. That’s Offensive! Can Comedy Survive The New Sensitivity: Don’t miss out on this one, it’s going to be a great one!
In addition to co-hosting “Bennington” on SiriusXM daily, Ron Bennington hosts two critically acclaimed interview shows, “Ron Bennington Interviews” and “Unmasked” and performs at clubs and festivals throughout North America. Ron Bennington has been called the best interviewer in the business. The Unmasked series has taped over 200 episodes, documenting the careers of the most interesting comedy writers, directors, filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, satirists, political comedians, comedic musicians and of course, stand up comedians in the business. This year at Just for Laughs in Montreal Ron hosted a panel debating whether New York City or Los Angeles was the best place to perform comedy.
Tickets are free and you can request them right here or through the New York ComedyFestival website.
