New Comedy Sports Website Launches with Kenan Thompson Music Video

The Internet is welcoming a new comedy baby this week.  The Kicker, a sports comedy hybrid has launched promising a home for comedians, comedy writers and fans who are “rabidly into sports.”

“Our mission is to keep it positive, fan-centric, and most of all, fun,” said Editor in Chief Bryan Tucker. “We’re not here for analysis or commentary. There’s enough of that out there. We’re here to be funny.”

Tucker’s “other job” is co-head writer for Saturday Night Live, so there’s definite credibility here, plus presumably access to those who work with or want to work with Saturday Night Live. Case in point, Kenan Thompson’s viral video “Hold em Back” which debuted today.

Created as part of the Above Average team, and under the Broadway Video umbrella, you can already see contributions from sports comedy writer Dave Ingbar, comedy celebrities like Weird Al Yankovic and JB Smoove, and sports super stars like Jamaal Charles, Matt Forte and Odell Beckham Jr.  You can also find out from Christian Finnegan why The Dallas Cowboys are Jimmy Buffet, or why the Eagles are Nic Cage in a series of digital shorts.

Former EP from Onion Sports Grant Jones is on board as general manager of the new venture.
