Netflix is branching out to audible only content, and they’re starting with comedy.
Now having successfully swallowed up the streaming comedy business, Netflix is expanding beyond its streaming hub into radio, and they’re using SiriusXM as homebase for their first ever auditory only offerings. Netflix will begin broadcasting comedy on SiriusXM exclusively beginning April 15.
Netflix will use the platform to debut clips from upcoming as-yet-unreleased stand up specials as well as featuring stand up clips. comedic talk shows and other original programming.
The new channel will launch exclusively on SiriusXM channel 93 and will feature highlights from top Netflix talent including Adam Sandler, Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Gabriel Iglesias, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mulaney, Ken Jeong, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Silverman, Sebastian Maniscalco, Trevor Noah, Wanda Sykes, and more.
SiriusXM already offers the best in audio comedy programming anywhere on the planet with daily live comedy talk shows like Bennington, Jim Norton & Sam Roberts, The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder, and You Up with Nikki Glaser, plus specialty programming like Ricky Gervais is Deadly Sirius, Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Radio Channel, Ron Bennington’s critically acclaimed Unmasked series, Sebastian Maniscalco’s weekly show, and multiple channels showcasing stand up like Raw Dog, Comedy Greats, Comedy Central Radio, Laugh USA, and more. The exclusive channel plans to introduce an original daily show, featuring celebrity guests and comedians discussing pop culture and hot topics of the day recorded from SiriusXM’s new studios in Los Angeles.
