Netflix Introduces “Super HD” Streaming Video
At the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, Netflix has introduced a new streaming video format that they claim competes with Blu-Ray discs. The new “immersive theatrical” service will debut later this year and will stream at 1080p. However, only customers that use Cablevision or Google Fiber are eligible to stream the videos. Time Warner and other smaller Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that have not signed on with Netflix will not receive the service. Netflix will not charge more money for the service, but due to federal regulations the participating ISPs will increase their fees for all customers.
