The list of comedians with Netflix specials is about to get a lot longer, and much more inclusive. Netflix is creating a new stand up event that will stream in 2019 and include half hours from forty seven comedians in thirteen different countries. Representing the United States will be Chris D’Elia, Neal Brennan, Nicole Byer and Nick Swardson. Other familiar names include a few of our favorite Canadian comedian friends like K. Trevor Wilson, and DeAnne Smith.
A whopping 34 of the 47 half hour specials will be recorded at Just for Laughs in Montreal, with the remaining sets being taped in Brazil, Mexico, India, Germany and The Netherlands. No title has been announced yet, but all forty seven episodes will be released at once. The specials will also be taped in seven languages, including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Dutch, German and English.
“Few things are better than discovering a new comedian you love,” said Lisa Nishimura, VP, Original Documentary and Comedy, Netflix. “With this event, we’re creating a true comedy festival experience for our members where they can scour the globe from home to find some of the freshest voices in comedy.”
