Amazon Prime’s Marvelous Mrs. Maisel took the world by storm in season one, making everyone fall in love with the accidentally aspiring stand up comedian played by Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan.
The show is unseriously fun with great performances by Tony Shalhoub as Midge Maisel’s father, and Alex Borstein as a club manager Susie Myerson and our favorite New Yorker Kevin Pollack playing her estranged husband’s father.
Maybe it’s not the most authentic look at stand up comedy in its infancy in New York City, but it’s a great binge watch.
Mrs. Maisel, written and executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino (Gilmore Girls) recently garnered 14 Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Rachel Brosnahan), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Tony Shalhoub), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Alex Borstein). Featuring Judy Garland’s live version of “Get Happy,” here is a first look into the delightful world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season two.
No release date yet, but Season 2 promises more of New York City in the 60s in all its glory, a sojourn to the infamous borscht belt, and is that “tits up” closer a nod to Rusty Warren’s Knockers Up or just coincidence? Coming soon to Amazon Prime.
