This weekend, Seth Rogen threw a real Bar Mitzvah for his buddy James Franco and it had all the makings of the real deal. Rogen’s annual ‘Hilarity for Charity’ events raise money for Rogen’s Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
Franco is Jewish but had never been bar mitzvah’ed as a kid, so Rogen came up with the idea of throwing his buddy a big super Jewish celebration for this year’s Hilarity for Charity event. Franco really did go through an official bar mitzvah religious ritual earlier in the month, and clips of the ceremony were aired during Saturday’s event. Rogen emcee’d the night of singing, dancing, drinking and fundraising which also included a traditional hora dance, mock circumcision, tattoos for guests, and comedy performances from Kyle Kinane, Al Madrigal, Ron Funches and Justin Willman. Bill Hader headed up a super fundraising auction during the event as well.
The event concluded with a performance from Miley Cyrustein & The Super Jews featuring Miley ass out, in a blue shimmering thong leotard and wearing a giant blue Star of David.
Rogen was inspired to create ‘Hilarity for Charity’ after learning that his mother in law suffers from early onset Alzheimers. This year’s event was the fourth annual fundraiser for the charity which has raised over two million dollars to date. Past events included performances and appearances by Paul Rudd, Bruno Mars, Tenacious D, Patton Oswalt, Aziz Ansari, Judd Apatow, The Backstreet Boys, Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling and others.
