Mike Wallace. 1918 – 2012

Journalist Mike Wallace passed away yesterday at the age of 93.

In his early career he covered many disciplines– game shows, wrestling commentary, radio action programming– but it was his skills as a hard hitting, unapologetic interviewer/ journalist where he made his mark.  As a correspondent for Night Beat, the CBS Morning News and then later as lead reporter for 60 Minutes, he would grapple with luminaries, historical figures and celebrities like Malcolm X, Richard Nixon, Yasir Arafat,  Toots Shor, Lyndon Johnson,  Henry Kissinger, Vladimir Putin, Ayatollah Khoumeini, Roger Clemens, John Ehrlichman, Ronald Reagan, Frank Lloyd Wright,  General Manuel Noriega,  and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and he was tough with all of them.

In the course of his career his work earned him 21 Emmy awards and five Peabody awards.
