Mike Judge On Office Space’s Gift To Humanity
Mike Judge spoke to Deadline.com about the lasting effects of his movie “Office Space”. Judge claims his film led to T.G.I. Friday’s giving up on their employees wearing “flair”.
Years after “Office Space” came out, the restaurant chain had done away with their waitstaff wearing decorative buttons and ornaments to boost the morale of their customers.
According to Judge – “About four years after Office Space came out, T.G.I. Fridays got rid of all that (button) flair, because people would come in and make cracks about it. One of my ADs asked once at the restaurant why their flair was missing and they said they removed it because of that movie Office Space. So, maybe I made the world a better place.”
Unfortunately, his movie also led to a lot more people having their staplers taken from them.
