Mike Birbiglia Bringing New One Man Show to NYC
Mike Birbiglia is bringing a new comedy show to New York City’s Lynn Redgrave Theater this February! It’s his return to off broadway for his third show created for the stage.
In the new show, Thank God For Jokes, Birbiglia tiptoes through the complicated minefield of modern-day joke-telling. Ultimately it’s a show that asks, “How far should we go for the laugh?”
“I’m so excited to be returning to the Lynn Redgrave Theater, where I performed Sleepwalk, my first play eight years ago,” said Mike Birbiglia. “It’s going to be a really special six weeks. I’ll see you there, or awkwardly on the F train right before it.”
A comedian, actor and filmmaker, Mike Birbilia’s created his first one man show “Sleepwalk with Me” which led to his New York Times best-selling book and Sundance-award winning film of the same name. His second off-Broadway show “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” won the Lucille Lortel Award for “Outstanding Solo Show.” The concert film of My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend was a Netflix Original and was named the number one comedy special of 2013 by Vulture, Paste, and Laughspin. Birbiglia is a regular contributor to public radio’s This American Life. He has appeared as an actor in The Fault in Our Stars, Trainwreck, Orange is the New Black, Girls, Inside Amy Schumer, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and the forthcoming film Don’t Think Twice, which he also wrote and directed.
