The New York Post is reporting that former NYC mayor Ed Koch passed away at about 2am Friday at age 88. He was mayor of New York from 1978 to 1989 and a true New York character all of his life. Known for his catchphrase “How’m I doing?”, as mayor, Koch took on everything from the AIDS crisis to trying to stop New York City from getting a second area code to refusing to give the New York Giants a parade permit after winning Super Bowl 21.
