MTV is getting serious about women in comedy with a new female focused unscripted series getting the greenlight, and three pilots ordered, with female centric casts and plotlines, Deadline is reporting.
MTV has greenlit a new series that will star our buddy Matteo Lane along with Jada Catta-Preta, Nicole Byer, and Blair Socci, Deadline is reporting. “Ladylike” will follow Byer, Lane, Catta-Preta and Socci on the streets as they redefine what it means to be “ladylike” using a hidden camera prank format. Lane has already been a big part of MTV’s Girl Code and is one of the stars of MTV2’s joking off.
MTV also put in orders for three comedy pilots, including vehicle for Nicole Byer who will play a young adult who has to leave her NYC apartment after she causes a fire there, and move in with her sister and her sister’s kids in the suburbs. The second pilot focuses on two girls dealing weed in Los Angeles, who invent a dope delivery app, and the third pilot is a dark half hour comedy called “Little Darlings” about a sorority girl and a stoner chick who spend their nights as vigilantes.
