Man Achieves Near Impossible: Gets HBO Without Paying For Cable

hbo chord cutterA cord-cutter, someone who doesn’t pay for cable – only internet, has found the holy grail of those not wanting to give the cable companies their money. He was able to get HBO without being signed up to a cable package. HBO is very tight with how their content gets viewed, so it’s near impossible to get legal access to their shows without paying for cable.

This guy found the following cable loophole when he called Verizon to cancel everything, but his broadband internet:

The 1992 Cable Act requires that HBO, like other premium channels and any individually sold channel tiers, have to be made available to someone who only receives the most basic tier of TV channels.

So it is possible to get HBO a la carte from all other channels. Now it’s time to enjoy HBO shows legally, once again.
