Fans of MacGruber get excited because Monday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Will Forte confirmed that he’s working on MacGruber 2. They don’t have a commitment to make it yet, but Forte is very serious about making it happen.  “It is true. It’s a very rough early draft of the script but we are trying to do it. We had a great time doing the first one and if anybody would let us do it…”

Forte’s confirmation came on the heels of a couple of tweets from director Jorma Taccone showing off the cover page of a “Super Duper Rough” draft of the script and a comment “The Writing Hath Begun!!!”.

The first MacGruber of course hit theaters in 2010 and was based on the SNL sketch.  The movie starred Will Forte and Kristin Wiig with Maya Rudloph, Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer.
