Lonely Island Movie Premiere Date Will Be June 3rd, 2016
The hype surrounding the new Lonely Island flick is already huge. The trio – made up by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone – who graced Saturday Night Live for years with unbelievably popular digital shorts are now making a new movie with executive producer Judd Apatow. In case you forgot, ‘Lonely Island’ arguably gave Saturday Night Live a digital presence. Before their digital shorts the SNL was declining in popularity and didn’t have an online pull that would get the average person to take notice in the show. Then Samberg and ‘Lonely Island’ joined the cast and created classic shorts like “I Just Had Sex” and “Lazy Sunday”.
Well fast-forward a few years and three albums later and now the trio are making an Untitled production with Apatow on board. Directed by Schaffer and Taccone, the film will portray Samberg as a rapper whose latest album bombs and forces him to reform his childhood band in order to save his career. The Untitled movie is set to premiere just a mere 12 months from now on June 3rd, 2016.
