LCS Cutting Room Floor: Invitationals Round 3
The second week of Last Comic Standing showed us round 3 of the invitational round. Sixteen more comics performed in the hour long episode, and once again, there’s plenty of comedy that didn’t make the final cut of the show. Some of the extended sets have been made available online. Now through the modern miracle of YouTube you can see what jokes didn’t make it to prime time, at least for some of the comedians.
GERALD KELLY
Gerald Kelly, who is quickly becoming known as the guy with those great eyes, got sent through to the Semi Finals, but only a quick clip of his set was aired on last night’s Last Comic Standing episode. Now you can watch all 5 minutes of his invitational round set along with a three minute judges commentary, and see exactly why Gerald made it to the next round. You’ll also see Keenan make a fat joke, and Russell drop a truth bomb on Gerald.
MIKE LAWRENCE
Mike Lawrence didn’t make it to the Semi Finals, and NBC only aired one of his jokes, but his full set has been posted on YouTube and now that we’ve seen it, we’ve got to wonder why Mike didn’t go through to the next round. His set is terrific, and the judges loved it. Keenan called Mike a funny serial killer, which sounds like a good thing, right? Recount judges?
VINNIE BRAND
Vinnie Brand has 6 children, and wants respect. And now you can see his full set, not just the clips that aired on NBC. Vinnie owns the Stress Factory club in New Jersey and got some great love from the judges. Not enough when it came time to make the cut, but it’s a great set to watch so enjoy the extended cut.
RANDY LIEDTKE
Most of Randy’s set aired on NBC, but here’s a little but of bonus material from the only comic to do some ventriloquism on Last Comic Standing. Well..sort of. Randy didn’t make it to the finals. Maybe he should have brought the judges some of those iPhone cookies.
KEITH ALBERSTADT
Watch an extended cut of Keith Alberstadt’s set and find out how much he loves coffee, find out what happened when Keith tried to use Tom’s Deodorant, and hear what his biggest fear is. He didn’t make it to the finals, but at least you can watch his full set.
