Kevin Hart Making Box Office History With “What Now” Tour

Kevin Hart’s “What Now” tour has the makings of becoming the biggest comedy tour of all time according to Billboard. With almost 70 shows booked for the tour which runs from early April through August, Kevin Hart has already sold more than 600,000 tickets and so far has grossed $35 million. Geof Wills, president of Live Nation Comedy which is promoting a majority of the shows on Hart’s tour, said, “The tour is truly remarkable” and added that “without question” it’s the biggest comedy tour he’s seen in 20 years. In the New York area by itself, Kevin Hart’s “What Now” shows have sold out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and both shows at Madison Square Garden.
Billboard reports that live comedy is as big a ticket item as it’s ever been and brings in more than $300 million a year. And Kevin Hart’s “What Now” tour is going to be a massive part of revenues this year. As an example, Billboard says he’s already shattered numbers put up by Dane Cook in 2009 which grossed $26,570,000 with attendance of 436,000 from 45 shows.
The “What Now” tour starts April 9th in San Antonio, Texas and plays arenas around the country with a grand finale on Sunday, August 30th in his hometown of Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field. This makes Kevin Hart the first comedian to headline a stadium in the U.S.
