Kate McKinnon Loves the Beach More than Hosting Awards Shows
Kate McKinnon is Saturday Night Live‘s current superstar, and is about to make her feature film debut as one of the co-stars of Ghostbusters, and she’s got a gig co-hosting the IFC 31st Annual Independent Spirit Awards. But she’s willing to give up at least one of those things to hang at a beach house in Santa Monica- or at least that’s what she said on the Tonight Show Tuesday night.
McKinnon was sharing the Tonight Show couch with film star Josh Brolin- who by the way says he’s never been invited to the tented Santa Monica awards party IFC throws every year- and was talking about what it takes to host a show. She says she feels ready because she’s hosted several intimate dinner parties- sliced baguettes, assembled cheese platters, etc. Brolin mentioned that his beach house is pretty close by to where IFC holds its event which totally excited McKinnon. “You gotta have me over dude!” she said upon learning he’s down by the beach. He said come on over! She said gotta go to Brolin’s and next thing you know there are “no-look high fives” happening everywhere.
Luckily for IFC, McKinnon has a co host- Kumail Nanjiani, who just might be running the show himself.
Later McKinnon took on super impressionist Jimmy Fallon and Brolin in a contest of impressions. Kate killed her Christopher Walken impression, and had no problem doing a Pee Wee Herman impression, but we don’t know why she was so afraid to take on the Kim Karsdashian card.
