With Donald Trump’s announcement yesterday morning officially kicking Late Night’s political season into high gear, Jon Stewart lead the pack with his enthusiastic look at the Trump tape.

Jon was literally exploding with excitement at what he called a ‘gift from heaven.” He proclaimed all other news the un-tasty “vegetables” that have to be dealt with quickly (Hillary news, Jeb talk, etc) so they could rush to the “golden corral chocolate fountain dessert” of Donald Trump’s announcement that he is running for President of the United States.

He thanked The Don for “making my last six weeks, my best six weeks,” saying Trump is putting him in some kind of comedy hospice, where “all I’m getting is straight morphine.” He delighted over Trumps opening music, and the more than “half an hour of the most beautifully ridiculous jibber jabber ever to pour forth from the mouth of a batshit billionare” that followed.

Stewart’s comparison of Trumps attitude to the American “Id” also known as that part of your brain that at 3am says hey, “lets go take a shit in the mailbox” perfectly summed up DT’s big plan for our nation and his vision of our place in the world.

Jon Stewart’s joy could only be matched with the reactions of his correspondents. Jordan Klepper and Hasan Minhaj couldn’t contain their excitement, and along with Stewart entered political orgasmic bliss. Jessica Williams faked it and went home early.

Seth Meyers also ran some great commentary, including a seven minute play by play of his favorite parts of Trumps announcement, from his grand Presidential entrance down an escalator, to his promise that he will never be in a bicycle race.    James Corden went with a game show– Trumper Stumpers– where he asks contestants to guess “Are these lines true, real lines from Donald Trumps speech?” and the answer is always yes.

Jimmy Fallon and Conan focused their attentions on Jeb Bush, with Team Coco creating Jeb’s very own sitcom, “Jeb!” and Jimmy Fallon getting some slow jam time with the man himself. Jeb’s trying to keep pace as the most fun candidate. Last night, he appeared on The Tonight Show, where he slow-jammed the news with Jimmy Fallon. Good luck keeping up with the Donald.
