Comedy Central’s Half Hour series has become a big barometer for young comics who have a big future, and so every season when CC announces its new class of comics who will record a Half Hour, its a big deal.

This summer, some of our favorite young comics will be recording half hour specials with Comedy Central. We’re very excited to see these 17 tremendous young talents getting the recognition and the opportunity to record their first specials.

It’s hard to believe Joe Machi hasn’t done his Half Hour special yet, and we can’t wait to see it, after Machi exploded two summers ago on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Emily Heller who is such a strong talent and has been a national headliner for years now, is also on the list. More overdue and due comedy talents include Mike Recine whose first album last year was so dark, so and original, and so terrific, Ramon Rivas II who quickly became a favorite of ours when we saw him in Jim Tews’ documentary about the Cleveland Comedy scene, “Make Fun”, New York comic Jacqueline Novak who just wrote her first book, Nick Turner who has been a guest on SiriusXM’s Bennington Show, we loved Martha Kelly at Moontower this year and on FX’s Baskets, plus the giant talents of Cy Amundson, Erik Bergstrom, Ahmed Bharoocha, Matthew Broussard, Naomi Ekperigin, Nate Fernald, Noah Gardenswartz, Drew Michael, Aparna Nancherla, and Ali Siddiq.

The 17 comics will tape Season Five of The Half Hour in New Orleans this summer at The Civic Theatre. The specials will tape June 1 though June 4 at 7:30 and 9:30pm each night and air in the fall. You can get free tickets to the taping by heading over to theblacklistnyc.com/nolahh.
