Jim Carrey Applauds Nike’s New Campaign With a New Painting
Comedian, actor and artist Jim Carrey continues his streak of expressing his thoughts on hot political topics with this new painting giving love to Nike for their decision to feature Colin Kaepernick as their latest spokesperson.
The artwork features an athlete running through a Nazi swastika above a kneeling Kaepernick while another part of the painting features black gloved wearing Olympians- presumably Tommie Smith and John Carlos- giving the human rights power salute, also called the black power salute.
Carrey likens Kaepernick’s kneeling to the infamous salute given during the 1968 Mexico City Olympic games as well as Jesse Owens unforgettable run during the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany.
He hashtagged his tweet #CapitalismWithAConscience and wrote “Thank you @Nike for just doing it.”
