Jeff Garlin announced his Netflix special, Jeff Garlin: Our Man in Chicago, this morning from his social media channels. .
Maybe you know him as America’s favorite agitated 80’s dad on The Goldbergs, ir as Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Jeff Greene, or as Gut Gut. Or maybe you go way back to the beginning of his outrageous stand up shows when he got his start. But wherever you boarded the Garlin train, you will definitely want to see him tear up the stage in Chicago.
Filmed in his hometown, Chicago and on the 37th anniversary – to the day – of his comedy debut, the one-hour special is ripe with Garlin’s signature blend of storytelling and improv. The comedian takes viewers on a stroll down memory lane, with some detours into the personal lives of the audience, a few hours in jail and enough donuts to last a lifetime.
We were at the taping at Chicago’s Park West Theater and witnessed the perfect blend of storytelling and improv. Garlin told hilarious stories about getting bumped by T.C. Tahoe, his run in with donuts on the set of RoboCop 3, and getting arrested in the parking lot of a Walgreens and then trolled by TMZ afterwards and an unforgettable story about Mannheim Avenue, a professional wrestler and a giant rubber penis.
Jeff Garlin: Our Man in Chicago launches globally on Netflix on November 12, 2019.
