Jamie Foxx was born Eric Bishop. It’s a nice enough name but when Eric Bishop started trying to get on stage in Los Angeles, he had a tough time getting on again as quickly as he wanted to because comedians would be competing with each other for stage time. He noticed that there were only a few girls on the list, and they would get up more often. He realized a unisex name would get him more stage time, and he loved Redd Fox, and so Jamie Foxx was born.
