It’s Official, Valerie Cherish Returns to HBO

A few weeks ago we posted that big news had leaked that HBO was bringing back “The Comeback,” and now it’s official. HBO has announced that Lisa Kudrow is back as Valerie Cherish, for a limited run of six episodes. The new episodes go into production later this month to air in the fall.
The series original run, which premiered in 2005, received widespread critical acclaim– and even was praised as one of the best shows of the decade, but only ran for one season. It centered on Valerie Cherish, a forty-something vain former television superstar ready for her big comeback on a hot young sitcom. She has big plans, including a documentary about her comeback being filmed as she returns to television. Unfortunately, her new role is marginal and unglamourous, and nobody treats her like a star. The show was uncomfortable, cringe television at its finest, and we can’t wait to see more.
Catch up with season one now on HBOgo.
