Is Brazil Ready For The World Cup?
The FIFA Confederations Cup is used as a dress rehearsal for the next year’s big show. But things haven’t been going well with soaring budgets, construction delays, and high-profile protests over the austerity of the games. ESPN’s Roger Bennett, in Brazil covering the games, tweeted this exchange during Brazil’s 2-0 win against Mexico Wednesday.
The only World Cup to change venues was the 1986 games, when Columbia voluntarily pulled out for financial reasons. Brazil is also slated to host the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016.
