Ilana Glazer’s First Hour Special Snagged By Amazon for a Prime Run

Today Ilana Glazer announced on her Instagram that her very first stand-up special, The Planet Is Burning, which will be an Amazon Original. It hasn’t taped yet– she’s recording the hour tomorrow in Houston, TX at the White Oak Music Hall, as the very last show on her #ThePlanetIsBurning tour. Comedy Dynamics is producing the special which will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

She’s Executive Producing the special along with Kelsie Kiley, and Ryan Cunningham who is also directing. The show is being produced by the amazing Alison Leiby, Petey De’Abreau and Nandi Mgwaba. Brian Volk-Weiss, Cisco Henson, are also EPs.

Earlier this year Amazon announced their intention to get into the stand up comedy special game, kicking off their slate with a powerhouse- Jim Gaffigan. Glazer is the second stand up comedian to announce a prime debut.

Ilana Glazer is keeping busy since wrapping Broad City, which she co-created, wrote, directed, EP’ed and starred in. She recently completed filming the A24 psychological horror film she also co-wrote and produced, titled False Positive, in which she stars alongside Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan. This fall, she will be voicing the character of EB in Ellen DeGeneres’ Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham. Recently, Glazer and Abbi Jacobson signed a first look deal with Comedy Central and Viacom Television networks and currently have two projects in development at Comedy Central under the new pact: Mall Town USA and Young Professionals. In 2017, Glazer and 2 Dope Queens star Phoebe Robinson toured across North America with an 11-city stop for their ‘YQY’ (Yaaas Queen Yaaas) tour. Recently, she embarked on an eight-city headlining stand-up tour titled The Planet is Burning, which will be taped for this special.

Prime members will be able to stream the special exclusively via the Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online. Members can also download the series to mobile devices for offline viewing at no additional cost to their membership. The stand-up special will be a global release and available on PrimeVideo.com for Prime Video members in more than 200 countries and territories.
