IFC Cancels New Comedy After One Season

Deadline is reporting that IFC is not renewing IFC’s new hockey comedy series Benders. The series launched in the fall and ran for eight episodes but reportedly received lukewarm ratings.

Benders followed a group of friends and their obsession with their adult hockey league, The Chubbys, and starred Lindsey Broad, Chris Distefano, Mark Gessner, Ruy Iskandar and Andrew Schulz.

New series Gigi Does It was also not renewed by the network. Series stars Chris Distefano and David Krumholtz referenced the cancellations on twitter last night.

IFC is known for giving a shot to new comedy series but it has always been notoriously difficult to get past a first season at IFC.

IFC is set to air the all new final season of Portlandia starting in January, and David Cross’ Todd Margaret will also return in January. Other hit comedy series that air on IFC include Comedy Bang Bang and Documentary Now.
