If You Text With A Driver, You Could Be Liable For Any Car Accidents

A New Jersey appeals court ruled that a person who texts with someone who’s driving and then ends up in a car accident, can also be liable for the wreck. The person would only be liable if they knew the person texting was doing so while behind the wheel. According to the court – “When the sender knows that the text will reach the driver while operating a vehicle, the sender has a relationship to the public who use the roadways similar to that of a passenger physically present in the vehicle.”
