Hannibal Buress Joins Speedy Ortiz On Drums At SXSW
It all started with a simple tweet and rest won’t even come close to making musical history. While making an appearance at the SXSW Festival, Hannibal Buress tweeted out that he would be available to play drums for any band that would have him. The invitation was answered by indie band, Speedy Ortiz. However, the group was given fair warning. Hannibal Buress does not know how to play the drums.
That didn’t stop the crowd from turning out at the House of Vans to see Hannibal behind the drum kit as Speedy Ortiz performed their song, “MKVI”. In the video found on Consequence of Sound, if making contact with the drums and cymbals with a drumstick is actually considered drumming, then technically Hannibal Buress was on the money. He relived the experience that night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. And even though he couldn’t remember the name of the band on Kimmel, Speedy Ortiz will never forget the gig they played with Hannibal Buress.
Ladies and gentlemen, Speedy Ortiz featuring Hannibal Buress on drums.
