Venue: Carolines on Broadway
Location:
1626 Broadway

Time: 7:30pm &10pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Kevin Nealon sets himself apart from other comedic performers with his unique sense of humor, dry wit and likeable demeanor.  Nealon is best known for his nine-year stint as a cast member of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and has received critical acclaim for his role as Doug Wilson in the Showtime series, Weeds.  Kevin is currently starring alongside Matt LeBlanc on the CBS-TV comedy series Man With A Plan.

Weeds, which ran for eight seasons, has been honored at the 2006, 2007 and 2009 Golden Globes with nominations for “Best Television Series Comedy or Musical.” In 2007 and 2009, Weeds was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.” In the show, Nealon portrayed a stoned accountant and business advisor.

Kevin recently hosted the AOL series Laugh Lessons With Kevin Nealon.

On the big screen, Kevin starred alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Just Go with It, a film about a man who enlists the help of his receptionist and her kids to land the woman of his dreams.  In the film, he portrays one half of a plastic-surgery-obsessed couple.  Just Go with It grossed over $30 million in its opening weekend and over $214 million worldwide

Nealon has found great comedic success in his extensive film career. In Anger Management, he played opposite Jack Nicholson and fellow Saturday Night Live comedian, Adam Sandler.  He and Sandler also teamed up in Blended, Eight Crazy Nights, The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, the latter of which grossed over $200 million worldwide.  In Joe Dirt, Nealon joined another Saturday Night Live alumnus David Spade.  Kevin’s other film credits include Walk of Shame with Elizabeth Banks, Daddy Day Care with Eddie Murphy, Good Boy with Molly Shannon, Roxanne with Steve Martin and the cult hit Grandma’s Boy  with Jonah Hill and Nick Swardson.

Kevin has also recently starred in the comedy, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, opposite Andy Samberg and Sarah Silverman.

Kevin provided the voice for the title role in the Nick At Nite stop-motion animated series Glenn Martin, DDS. He starred opposite Catherine O’Hara and Judy Greer in the series that followed the adventures of a traveling dentist and his family.

As one of the longest-running cast members on NBC’s Saturday Night Live (1986-1995), Nealon created some of the show’s most memorable characters, including ‘Subliminal Man’ and ‘Hans and Franz.’ Nealon’s recurring role as an anchor on ‘Weekend Update’ helped make the sketch a show staple. In 1988 Kevin earned an Emmy Award nomination as part of the SNL writing team.

In late 2009, Nealon’s first one hour stand up special, “Kevin Nealon: Now Hear Me Out!” aired on Showtime to rave reviews.  It is currently available on DVD. Nealon’s second standup special for Showtime. “Whelmed…But Not Overly,” debuted in August, 2012 and is also available on DVD.

As well as being a regular on the talk show circuit, Kevin tours the country performing stand up comedy at theaters, clubs and casinos. He is currently working on his third, yet to be titled, stand up special.

A sought-after guest star on television, Kevin has made a number of appearances on Hot In Cleveland, The League, Soul Man, Drunk History and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

In 2008, Nealon released his first book, Yes, You’re Pregnant, But What About Me? – a comical look at the male perspective of pregnancy.  The book is available in bookstores.

Currently, Kevin resides in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing I Am Woman at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND – a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Rolling  Stone, Variety among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it “The hottest ticket in Hollywood.”

THE DAN BAND plays to sold-out crowds from Los Angeles to New York and has appeared on numerous shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Last Comic Standing, The Guys Choice Awards and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who signed on to executive produce Dan’s one hour concert special “The Dan Band: I Am Woman,” directed by McG.

Dan recently made a surprise cameo appearance in Fetty Wap/Kid Ink’s music video for their new hit song, “Promise,” which went viral in its first week and already has over 100 million views

Show: Ari Shaffir: New Hour In Progress

Venue: Comedy Cellar at The Fat Black Pussycat
Location:
130 W. 3rd Street NYC

Time: 8:30pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Stand-up comedian, podcaster and actor ARI SHAFFIR describes his comedy as a puppet show–but way filthier and without the puppets. The New York native grew up Orthodox Jewish, spent 2 years in a yeshiva in Israel, and came back to America to lose his religion and become a comic. LA Weekly has called Shaffir “a gifted unyielding comic…a real force to be reckoned with.”

This July, Shaffir released two Netflix specials called Double Negative Which is presented in two 45 minute episodes called Children and Adulthood.Self-described as his version of a “Smashing Pumpkins Double Album,” this type of double header release hasn’t been seen since George Carlin’s 1972 release of FM & AM. In Children Shaffir discusses the pressure he is getting from his family and friends to have kids, and why he is getting more and more thoughts in his head about why he doesn’t want to do that and in Adulthood, he discusses the freedoms of being child-free.  Decider.com called Shaffir’s Netflix debut“positively audacious.” Shaffir recently finished 3 seasons as the host and co-creator of Comedy Central’s weekly storytelling series This is Not Happening. He was a regular panel guest on the series @midnight, and TBS’s Conan. In 2016, Shaffir co-starred Zach Galifianakis, Gal Gadot and Jon Hamm in Twentieth Century Fox’s comedy Keeping Up With The Joneses.

Shaffir also hosts the wildly popular podcast, Skeptic Tank, a weekly interview show where he chats with everyone from parents to comedians to prostitutes “to help better understand humanity and also to make fart jokes.” The podcast is consistently among the top-rated podcasts on iTunes and averages over 100,000 downloads per week.  Shaffir is also an avid sports fan and gets together with Sam Tripoli and Jayson Thibault once a week to record the Punch Drunk Podcast. Dubbed “an Asian massage for the real sports fans,” by The Podcast Tribune, these three stand-up comics share their sports thoughts, arguments, stories, fights, and beats. In the past 5 years, Shaffir has released two hour-long standup specials on Comedy Central entitled Paid Regular and Passive Aggressive. Prior to these popular specials, Shaffir’s standup album Revenge for the Holocaust went to #1 on both iTunes charts and Amazon.com the week of its premiere. He continues to perform stand up to sold-out crowds nationwide and has been featured at Montreal’s prestigious Just for Laughs Festival, San Francisco SketchFest, SXSW, the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, The Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival.

Show: Godfrey

Venue: The Village Underground
Location:
130 W. 3rd Street NYC

Time: 8:30pm

Description of Show and Lineup:

GODFREY is one of the hottest comedians on the circuit. Growing up in Chicago, he constantly got in trouble for misbehaving and being an all-around class clown. Godfrey’s Nigerian parents unknowingly encouraged his bad behavior by showing him classic comedy films from an early age. While performing impressions of his college football teammates, Godfrey realized his irreverent style of comedy might be more than just a hobby.

Godfrey’s talent landed him several high profile projects. His performance in Zoolander has achieved cult status; he is recognized across the country as the beloved “7UP Guy” from 7UP’s national advertising campaign; and he has cracked up moviegoers in Johnson Family Vacation, The Cook Out with Queen Latifah, Phat Girlz starring Academy Award-winning actress Monique, and Soul Plane, alongside Snoop Dogg. For years, Godfrey provided pop culture commentary on VH1 as a talking head and also appeared on Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen.

As one of the most dominant forces in the comedy circuit, Godfrey is in demand as both a host and a standup headliner at the nation’s premiere comedy clubs. Godfrey has performed at comedy festivals in Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago, as well as the Just For Laughs Roadshow.

With his fourth appearance on BET’s Comicview, a guest starring role on 30 ROCK, and his own half-hour special for Comedy Central under his belt, Godfrey is clearly on the verge of super-stardom.
