Gavin McInnes Quits The Proud Boys

“As of today, November 21st, 2018, I am officially disassociating myself from the Proud Boys, in all capacities, forever. I quit.”

Gavin McInnes has stepped down as leader of the Proud Boys. Although he says he never was the leader.

He said he did it reluctantly, because he still sees it as the greatest fraternal organization in the world, and has been told that stepping down will help the members of the group who were caught on video in a brawl in New York City. The Proud Boys, McInnes says, is a multi-racial club, and not only are they not white nationalists, he claims white nationalists don’t exist.

The group that started as a joke, has taken on a life of its own, and has grown to be taken quite seriously. “We started this club,” he said, “because a producer from my old comedy vidcast was a 24 year old virgin who refused to quit porn,” he said in the statement he read. “It could have been called the getting Ben laid club.” He described the group as full of insides jokes, high school silliness, and says the name was from a video they used to cringe watch because “like all red blooded American males, we hate musicals.”

Gavin says the mens club is about joking around with your buddies, something that has been ruined, he says, by the myth of toxic masculinity. He feels that the idea of men hanging out is at risk and doesn’t understand why his club has come under attack.

You can watch the statement in a 36 minute clip that includes plenty of McInnes’ ideology.
