FX has ordered the new half hour comedy series, Baskets, co-created by Zach Galifianakis, Louis CK, and Jonathan Krisel.

The new series will star Galifianakis as Chip Baskets, a man in Bakersfield, California who has had enough of the corporate job market, so he dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown. Unfortunately for Chip, he can’t seem to get enrolled in the prestigious French clowning school, so he opts instead for a job with the local rodeo.

FX has ordered 10 episodes of Baskets and production will begin next year with the series scheduled to launch in 2016.

“Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show,” said Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming for FX. “To say Zach’s portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique /riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can’t wait for the world to meet him.”

Baskets is the first production under FX Productions overall deal with Louis C.K. and his production company Pig Newton.

Other new comedy series ordered by FX this year include “The Comedians” starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, Dennis Leary’s “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” (with Robert Kelly), The Tracy Morgan Project for FXX, and Man Seeking Woman which stars Jay Baruchel, also for FXX.

The new series is under the banner of FX Productions (FXP) which produces FX’s comedy series It’s Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaThe LeagueLouieArcherWilfred, Married, and You’re the Worst; and the upcoming comedies The Untitled Tracy Morgan Project and Man Seeking Woman.
