More bad news for Team “Rel”. It was announced on Wednesday that FOX canceled the new series after only one season. “Rel” was created written and executive produced by Lil Rel with his pals from TruTV series “Friends of the People” Josh Rabinowitz and Kevin Barnett. Jerrod Carmichael was on board as EP along with Mike Scully. Barnett tragically passed away in January while on a trip to Mexico.

Lil Rel Howery is one of the funniest people we know, so we had big hopes for his series on Fox. But things just never seemed to click for the sitcom. But we know Howery, Carmichael and Rabinowitz will all be back with more.

The fictionalized series followed Rel as a divorced, long distance single father whose “believe in yourself” attitude is tested after he discovered his wife was having an affair with his barber. His quest for new love, and a new barber will take place on the West Side of Chicago.
