Dax Shepard Making “CHiPS” Into A Movie
The 1970s motorcycle cop TV show “CHiPS in being turned into a movie written by, directed by and starring Dax Shepard.
Dax, who currently stars on NBC’s “Parenthood” and is known for television’s “Punk’d” and “Idiocracy” on film, will be doing the film for Warner Bros, according to Deadline. He’ll be playing Officer Jon Baker, the part originally played by Larry Wilcox on the TV series. Michael Peña (Crash, American Hustle) has been cast as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, which was Erik Estrada’s signature role.
Originally meant as a straight comedy film, the project is now described as more of buddy movie like “Lethal Weapon”. Dax, who is a professional car and motorcycle rider, intends on doing all his own stunts for the movie.
