The Secret Service is in charge of protecting the President of the United States and his family. In order to do that more efficiently, the agency  gives each member of the First Family a special code name to refer to President, the First Lady and their children. President George W. Bush had two code names from the Secret Service, one when he was President and one when he was the son of a President. When his dad was in office, his code name was Tumbler. Obviously chosen by what Secret Service agents saw in his hand the most often. For Presidents Day, see if you can identify the First Family by their code names in each paragraph below. #1. Renegade, Renaissance, Radiance and Rosebud

President Renegade had always promised his wife Renaissance that he would quit smoking. Renegade said he would stop before running for President. That was a promise he broke to Renaissance, who thought Renegade’s smoking was a bad example to their children, Radiance and Rosebud. Once in the White House, President Renegade said he was finally able to give up his smoking habit. Why? He said because he was afraid of First Lady Renaissance.

#2. Volunteer, Victoria, Velvet and Venus

President Volunteer was the only U.S.President to be born and raised in Texas. His wife, Victoria had a received a nice inheritance from her mother which she used to fund the start of Volunteer’s political career. Later, Victoria also put together a small media empire of radio and TV stations that became a multi-million conglomerate before it was sold off. Adding that to their land holdings, President Volunteer and First Lady Victoria left an estimated $20 million fortune to their children,Velvet and Venus.

#3. Deacon, Dancer, and Dynamo

After President Deacon was elected and he and First Lady Dancer moved into the White House, Dancer decided to make the first residence a dry zone and got rid of all the booze. That didn’t stop President Deacon’s mother from taking a 6-pack to the Secret Service agents one night as a thank you. The agents declined the offer. Dancer wasn’t too thrilled about this. She worried about the influence of alcohol in the White House on their child, Dynamo. She already didn’t approve of Deacon’s brother’s drinking.

#4. Eagle, Evergreen, Energy

President Eagle and First Lady Evergreen enter the White House with all kinds of hopes. However, legal problems really bogged down the administration. They left the White House $12 million in debt – which didn’t make it easy to send their child, Energy to Stanford University. Also Eagle didn’t enter the Presidency with the name he was born with. It was legally changed. If this helps you figure out the President’s identity, Eagle’s picture was once taken when he was much younger, while meeting President Lancer.

#5. General and Sunnyside

President General was almost killed while in office. There was an assassination attempt while he was staying at a different location in Washington DC with First Lady Sunnyside while the White House was undergoing renovations. A gunfight started between the assassins, the Secret Service and Capital police outside the location where President General was sleeping. He woke up to gun shots and started to watch it from upstairs and had to be screamed at by the Secret service to get away from the window. You can bet that First Lady Sunnyside never let that happen again.
