The alternative fuel source of corn-based ethanol was supposed to be the clean energy solution to the United States’ dependence on oil. Now environmentalists are claiming that farmers have wiped out 5 million acres of land that now contain destroyed habitats and polluted water supplies. The total size of land destroyed is equal to the space taken up by Yellowstone, Everglades, and Yosemite National Parks. No worries, once evolution takes its course, all the animals affected will love feasting on fertilizer.
