Comedy Dynamics is Releasing Their 200th Special With Comedian Helen Hong on May 31

As part of their partnership with Tribeca, Comedy Dynamics is behind the release of comedian Helen Hong’s special, WELL HONG. Brian Volk-Weiss, who is the driving force behind the Comedy Dynamics brand directed the hour which was filmed live at the acclaimed 2021 Tribeca Fest.

Comedy Dynamics is the world’s largest independent stand-up comedy production company and are responsible for so many important and brilliant specials from some of the best comedians in the business, like Ali Wong, Tom Segura, Bob Saget, Chris Gethard, Colin Quinn, DL Hughley, Jesus Trejo, Marina Franklin, Kevin Smith, Howie Mandel, Maria Bamford, Jay Mohr, Jim Gaffigan, Pete Lee and so many more.

Brian Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of Comedy Dynamics said this has been one of his favorite specials he’s produced.
“It’s fitting that one of my favorite specials we’ve ever produced also represents the 200th that Comedy Dynamics has produced! It was a joy to work with Helen and we’re excited to be releasing her special!”

Helen Hong is a comedian, actress, podcaster and TV host known to be a fan favorite on the hit NPR podcast, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. You saw her on HBO’s Silicon Valley as recurring character and Head of HR, Tracy Robertson. She’s also gotten love for her role in CBS’ The Unicorn as Emma, a “randy” window, and Netflix’s Huge In France. She’s performed stand-up on The Arsenio Hall Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Comics Unleashed and the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. Helen has also appeared in Inside Llewyn Davis, Pretty Little Liars, Jane The Virgin and Parks and Recreation, and in 2014, Buzzfeed called her one of 18 Comedians Who Could Take Over the Late Show.

Hong spent Covid quarantine trying to date doomsday preppers, stealing her dog’s Xanax, and trying to teach the world that China is not the only country in Asia. She also had a baby… kind of. Helen’s special was taped at the Tribeca Festival one of the first events to re-open the city post-lockdown.

“After a year of not being onstage because of Covid, I was nervous to tape a whole hour, half of which was brand new material about my life during the pandemic. But it was an honor to help re-open NYC as part of the Tribeca Festival and I can’t wait to share my experiences during this crazy time with my fans. Thanks to Comedy Dynamics for being so supportive and awesome during these wild times!” said Helen Hong.

Helen’s been performing standup for about sixteen years, but she had a unique path into stand up, she was taking classes at Caroline’s Comedy Club, kind of randomly, not because she had aspirations to pursue a career in comedy, but because a friend was taking the classes. After she got her first laugh, she knew this was what she wanted to do with her life.

WELL HONG will be released digitally through Comedy Dynamics hybrid distribution network consisting of Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Spectrum, YouTube, and more starting May 31st. The album will be released on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora and more for streaming and purchase starting June 3rd.
