Coke’s Online Promotion Turns Into A Corporate Apology
Coca-Cola has apologized for an online promotion in South Africa. Coke drinkers were able to go on a website and personalize their own cans of the soft drink. Although the word “straight” was fine, when anyone tried to type in the words “gay” or “lesbian”, the site rejected them with the message – “Oops, let’s pretend you didn’t just try that.” Unfortunately, that’s the exact same message many gays and lesbians got from their parents when they came out.
