Clint Eastwood Taps Tom Hanks As Sully Sullenberger

Following the box-office success of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood announced that he planned to direct a film about an American hero who is already a household name: Sully.
Eastwood and Warner Brothers are close to signing Tom Hanks to play the role of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, Deadline reports.. The airline pilot incredibly landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after the aircraft became disabled when a flock of geese struck the plane. Sully’s brave actions saved the lives of all of the 155 passengers and crew aboard the airplane.
When Eastwood first announced his intention to direct the film, many industry insiders speculated that the Hollywood legend would play the part of Sully himself. Instead, the 85-year-old landed Hanks, who ain’t a bad actor either.
The film’s script is written by Todd Komarnicki, who wrote Perfect Stranger, starring Bruce Willis and Halle Berry. The script is based on Sully’s autobiography, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, which he co-wrote with Jeffrey Zaslow.
Production is set to begin at the end of 2015.
