Comedy Central announced this week that Chris Distefano will be launching a comedy podcast this month. Called “Stand-Up w/ Chris Distefano” it will be the first podcast ever to actually play stand up comedy. You will be able listen to curated stand up sets, but it’s not just a playlist. It’s more like a listening party at Chris’ house. He’ll be talking about stand up in between the clips along with his one-named producer, Nicole. “Welcome to my fucking world,” Chris says in the iTunes trailer for the new series. Distefano developed the idea for Comedy Central and they greenlit it right away. He’ll have access to decades of Comedy Central stand up for the weekly series and he’ll also take calls from his comedian friends and break down some of what you’ll be hearing. It sounds like what music radio used to be, and it could be very fucking cool.
Comedy Central also announced new podcast “Your 2 Dads w/ Sean and Julian” hosted by Sean O’Connor and Julian McCullough, launching May 20. Julian McCullough’s one-hour special Julian McCullough: Maybe I’m a Man premiered June 8, 2018 on Comedy Central. McCullough has toured the country enough to earn Diamond Medallion Status on Delta Airlines, has appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, NPR’s This American Life, and Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening. He has also had parts on Inside Amy Schumer and is a frequent guest on TruTV’s Comedy Knockout. Sean O’Connor is a stand-up comedian and writer who has written for The Late Late Show with James Corden, was head writer on Comedy Central’s Hood Adjacent, and was head writer for 2018’s Hilarity For Charity. He previously sold an animated television project, executive produced by Blake Griffin, to Fox. His half-hour special aired on Comedy Central as part of the network’s The Half Hour franchise, and he was a New Face at 2011’s Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
