Chris Distefano Picks Up Overall Deal with Comedy Central

Comedy Central has announced that the network is adding Chris Distefano to its list of partners in production. Distefano has signed with the network for an overall deal to include a first look at future projects, exclusive performing services, unscripted, animated and stand up projects in development, and a renewal of Distefano’s short interstitial series “Stupid Questions.”

So lets break all this down. Chris launched Stupid Questions on the network earlier this year, providing short casual conversations with a different comic each week. The conversations run in between the evening’s scheduled programming every Friday. The series has been fun and the network wants more.

January 18th, Distefano’s first hour special will debut on the network. Size 38 Waist was recorded in Brooklyn and is full of Distefano’s personal life, upbringing and charm.

Also already in development is an animated series, an unscripted series, and an already greenlit weekly podcast.

The network will have first shot at any content Distefano creates regardless of platform.

Comedy Central Executive VP’s and Co-Heads of Talent and Development Sarah Babineau cited Distefano’s Brooklyn-born edge and nice guy charm as the keys to his appeal. “He’s razor-sharp, magnetic, and relatable.”

Distefano is based in New York and he’s the star of one of the best web series on the internet- Bay Ridge Boys. You can also see him on this IFC series Benders, co-hosting Ultimate Beastmaster on Netflix, and in the upcoming Amazon pilot Making Friends. Chris has appeared on MTV’s Guy Code and Girl Code, as well as truTV’s Comedy Knockout. He recently starred in and Co-Executive Produced the Sony/CBS pilot Distefano, based on his life and written by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of How I Met Your Mother. Chris has performed stand-up on Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC, Late Show with David Letterman on CBS, and The Half Hour on Comedy Central. He was a New Face at the 2013 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, and can be seen performing almost every weekend at all the major clubs across the country.
